Formal art education improves technical skills and provides an opportunity to explore various mediums, styles, techniques, and materials. Artists of all skill levels and ages need education to learn and cultivate their talent. Whether you gain it in a formal setting or you’re a self-taught artist, education is essential. Formal art education can be helpful, however at times it prevents or curtails one’s true creativity and uniqueness. The whole idea is that each work should be your unique creation and not like any other. The artistic sense must be inborn as it cannot really be taught. Formal art education is more useful if you need to understand how it has moved through centuries to reach where it is today. I also feel collaboration with other art colleges and with more evolved collectives of the world would help artists to think differently and help sync their work on a global platform.
